Please pray for baby Stellan...

Have you heard about this little guy?

Prayers for Stellan

His name is Stellan and he's fighting a potentially deadly heart defect in the hospital in Minneapolis. You can read the full story of Stellan here. He was diagnosed in utero with and his parents were told he would not live. By a miracle from God, he was born a healthy baby 5 months ago. Last week, the heart defect resurfaced and he's fighting for his life. News station KSTP in Minneapolis did a story on him last night and you can view it here. Stellan has a name gallery where people all over the world are sending photos of his name in random places so that the miracle of baby Stellan is known and God is glorified. You can see his amazing name gallery here!

A Beautiful Prayer

I read this prayer on Wendy Blight's blog today and thought it was worth sharing. Especially as we pray for Alaynna Ritchey's nephew, Gerard and a baby that I have been praying for, Stellan (you can read about Stellan here).

Heavenly Father, so many of us kneel before Your throne in heaven knowing You are the God of Heaven's Armies, the Great I AM, the Almighty God. We believe in You. We love You, Lord. But in our place of wait, in our place of sorrow and confusion, we need help with our unbelief. Help us to surrender our questions to You, to really and truly leave them with You. Help us to trust in You with all our hearts, to lean not on our own understanding (or the understanding of others like doctors, friends, family), but in all our ways help us acknowledge You and believe You when You promise that You will direct our paths. Direct our paths today, Lord. In clear and obvious ways reveal to us that You are at work in our midst. Thank You that You care deeply about every detail in our lives. Thank You that You are sovereign over every circumstance. Thank You that You are never surprised. Thank You that You are ABLE. We await wisdom, direction, and a mighty work of Your Hand.

The Birthday Closet

I wanted to share with you, a new ministry at St. George. If you are interested in helping or would like more information, please contact Marie Bateh at (205) 533-5167.

The Birthday Closet

Can you imagine your child not having a present to open on his/her birthday?
It's a really terrible thought. So, in response to a need, we have opened a Birthday Closet at St. George for the homeless children at Pathways.

Our hope is to inspire our children to give a gift or two from their birthday stash (or after Christmas) to the Birthday Closet so that a child who would otherwise have nothing, have something. As our closet fills we hope to touch even more children around the touched life of a child, and it truly impacts anyone when a stranger gives in love. So both parties are blessed!

Please talk to your children about this ministry and encourage them to touch others in a Christ-like manner. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer your time to this ministry, please contact Marie Bateh at 533-5167.

Please mark all donations "Birthday Closet" and place them in the church rectory.

Thank you!
